Cabin fever
Article Abstract:
Interior cabin design and construction of airplanes are discussed. According to an opinion poll, most passengers feel discomfort with cabin and seating arrangements. Taking this into account, Boeing and its counterpart, Airbus, are planning to modify the design of cabins in their next planes.

The practice of airlines of using recycled cabin air is seen as a contributing factor to the likelihood of passengers catching diseases from on-board air conditioning. Studies reveal that most US airlines intentionally reduce the supply of fresh air to save fuel.

The health risks of flying such as the transmission of infection are discussed with reference to the air circulation. Cabin air in 2000 is usually comprised of 50% recirculated and 50% fresh air, but airlines want to reduce the levels of fresh air.
