Gold prospector Felix Pedro was honored with a dinner dubbed the "Bar Banquet" following his discovery of gold in Alaska on Jul 22, 1902. The banquet was dubbed as such as there were numerous guests from the legal profession who attended the dinner. Roast moose and caribou cutlets were served during the banquet.

Scandinavian immigrants to Alaska have left a legacy of Christmas recipes that are still enjoyed by any nationality or ethnic group. Desserts spiced with cardamom seed, lemon zest, cinnamon or melting butter and brown sugar are typical holiday fare.
