The M1903 Springfield rifle was developed after the US armed forces realized that lever-action rifles were not match to bolt-action rifles in the Spanish American War. A brief overview of the development of M1903 Springfield rifle is presented.

Proper throating is the key to accuracy

Revolver type cartridges did not approach the test barrel accuracy in a Contender pistol. Experimentation proved that this resulted from improper throat used in the test bed.
