The karst 'cops:' volunteers find and map the caves of the Tongass
Article Abstract:
The Tongass National Forest in Southeastern Alaska has many caves in it, and efforts to describe the environment that surrounds the caves were made to ensure that the areas are preserved after parcels of land are sold for timber. Karst is unique land formations that are made from limestone and marble, and have caves and cave-related features.
