A B-cell-homing chemokine made in lymphoid follicles activates Burkitt's lymphoma receptor
Article Abstract:
T-cell zones and B-cell zones exist as compartments in secndary lymphoid organs such as the lymph nodes and spleen. These compartments supply an environment that is specialized for particular phases in the immune response. Chemokines are a chemotactic cytokine family that direct leucocyte migration under conditions of inflammation. B-Lymphocyte chemoattractant is a novel chemokine that is found in the lymph nodes, spleen, and Peyer's patches. It is the forst chemokine that has been found to be selective toward B-cells.
