A black hole full of answers
Article Abstract:
Researchers are using a facet of string theory to explain the peculiarities of high-temperature superconductors. The discovery of black holes might help in sorting out the behavior of real-life quantum systems as a signal, indicating that string theory is on the right track of uniting gravity and quantum physics.

Why the temperature is high
Article Abstract:
Dissipation describes how useful energy is eventually converted into microscopic disorder, which is perceived as a rise in temperature. The transition temperature to superconductivity is high in copper oxides because their metallic states are as vicious as is permitted by the laws of quantum physics.

Pebbles in the nodal pond
Article Abstract:
The features of scanning tunneling microscope (STM), which is used for taking the images of high-temperature superconductivity, are discussed. The real space maps of high-temperature superconductors show completely different images from the ones images taken from STM.
