A genomic code for nucleosome positioning
Article Abstract:
Nucleosome-bound sequences are isolated at high resolution from yeast and are used in a new computational approach to construct and validate a nucleosome-DNA interaction model and to predict the genome-wide organization of nucleosomes. The results have shown that genomes encode an intrinsic nucleosome organization and this nucleosome positioning code might facilitate specific chromosome including transcription factor binding, transcription initiation and remodeling of the nucleosomes themselves.

Alp7/TACC is a crucial target in Ran-GTPase-dependent spindle formation in fission yeast
Article Abstract:
A microtubule-associated protein Alp7 is found to be the target of Ran in yeast for spindle formation. The results show that Ran targets Alp7-Alp14 in order to achieve nuclear spindle formation and might also differentiate its targets depending on whether the organism undergoes closed or open mitosis.

Deviations in mating
Article Abstract:
The quantitative single-cell analysis of a classic genetic network, the activation of genes in yeast cells in response to mating pheromone is reported. Results reveal that cells vary by about 35% in the amount of gene transcription that occurs in response to alpha factor.
