A greenhouse warming connection
Article Abstract:
New research into global warming indicates that levels of ozone will continue to decline, regardless of falling emissions of chlorofluorocarbons. There will be particularly significant drops in ozone levels in the period 2010 to 2019. This research has identified a previously unrecognized link between greenhouse gases and ozone for the contemporary lower stratosphere. It has been shown that rising concentrations of greenhouse gases could currently be creating colder, more stable vortex circulations in winter, boosting the chemical removal of ozone at high latitudes.

Strategies for cutting carbon
Article Abstract:
Policy to tackle the problem of global warming should control concentrations of carbon dioxide, but do as little damage as possible to economic growth. Energy efficiency can be improved, and carbon emissions can also be reduced per energy unit. Policies are needed that will encourage research into energy, and that will penalize carbon emission. There is a lack of clarity as to the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide that should be set as a goal, and the hazards of global warming are not fully understood.
