Article Abstract:
The Bordetella genus includes causative agents of human whooping cough and canine kennel cough. The bacteria have an elaborate system for evading the immune system of the organism that is infecting the nature of their surface proteins and is constantly changing. This presents a formidable challenge to any (bacteriophage) attempting to infect Bordetella cells, as the first step of viral multiplication is attachment to the bacterial cell surface.

A little help for my ends
Article Abstract:
Researchers from the Gabriel and Haber laboratories have discovered that retrotransposons and the reverse transcriptases (RTs) they encode may be beneficial to their hosts. Studies on over-expressed HO endonuclease in Saccharomyces cerevisiae revealed that retrotransposons and RTs are able to heal such chromosomal breaks. Previous studies have shown that RTs are essential components in the replication machinery of retroviruses such as HIV.
