A movement in four parts?
Article Abstract:
A subduction zone is where one tectonic plate dives beneath another, and for subduction-zone coast lines, a three part seismic-interseismic deformation cycle is considered as standard. But analyses including microfossil types propose a four-part deformation cycle, adding the short period of decimetre-scale subsidence before the main event.

Evolution and diversity of subduction zones controlled by slab width
Article Abstract:
The slab width controls two first-order features of plate tectonics and three-dimensional numerical simulations of free subduction are used to show that trench migration rate is inversely related to slab width and depends on proximity to a lateral slab edge. The results are uniform with retreat velocities observed globally.

The potential for giant tsunamigenic earthquakes in the northern Bay of Bengal
Article Abstract:
The article describes that giant earthquakes occur at the coast of Myanmar and a large and vulnerable population is therefore exposed to a significant earthquake and tsuanami hazard.
