An Islamist revolution
Article Abstract:
The impact of taking over of the secular regimes by Islamist political parties across the Muslim world on the status of science in such countries and their scientific cooperation with the West is examined. The Arab Human Development Report for the United Nations Development Programme, written entirely by Arabic-speaking social and natural scientists, lays bare how knowledge-based activities such as science, innovation, book publishing, art and literature in Arabic-speaking countries are among the weakest in the world.
