A possible prebiotic synthesis of pantetheine, a precursor to coenzyme A
Article Abstract:
Heating a solution containing 1 millimol each of cysteamine, beta-alanine and pantoyl lactone at 40 degrees Celsius produces pantetheine, a precursor for coenzyme A. Formation of amide bonds at temperature as low as 40 degrees Celsius supports the participation of the coenzyme A and pantetheine in the earliest metabolic systems.

Functional proteins from a random-sequence library
Article Abstract:
Research is presented describing the frequency of functional proteins from random-sequence libraries, and their similarity to the frequency observed in equivalent RNA libraries. Researchers used an in vitro selection of messenger RNA displayed proteins in order to sample a lot of separate random sequences.
