A time-resolved glimpse of the terahertz glory
Article Abstract:
Daniel Grischkowsky and colleagues have distinguished different scattered-wave components from their different travel times, by firing electromagnetic pulses of 0.1 to 1 THz at a 6.35 mm diameter alumina sphere. Transient excitation of a dipole antenna generated the radiation and a further optoelectronic system allowed the time-resolved reception of the scattered signal. Glory rays were separated from weaker direct reflections.

Momentum in an uncertain light
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to measure light's momentum transfer by applying the sophisticated tools of atom optics. The findings reveal that if a transparent material like the glass of a lens acts on light as though to change the geometry of a situation, light should change the geometry of such materials as well.

Deja vu in optics
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the occurrence of the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam recurrence among light waves travelling through optical fibres. The difficulties of observing the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam recurrence experimentally are discussed.
