Activation of a cell-cycle-regulated histone gene by the oncogenic transcription factor IRF-2
Article Abstract:
The purification of the histone nuclear factor M has been achieved and it is found to be a protein with molecular mass of 48K which is the same as interferon regulatory factor 2 (IRF-2). The transcription of the human histone gene reaches a maximum limit during the early S phase. IRF-2 has an oncogenic action and there is a link between IRF-2 and a gene that is linked to DNA replication and the transition from G1 to S phase of cell cycle.

Mitotic occupancy and lineage-specific transcriptional control of rRNA genes by Runx2
Article Abstract:
The mammalian Runx2 is found to control lineage commitment and cell proliferation by regulating genes transcribed by RNA polymerase II (Pol II) and also acts as a repressor of RNA Pol I mediated rRNA synthesis. The results have indicated that lineage-specific control of ribosomal biogenesis might be a fundamental function of transcription factors that govern the cell fate.

Human brain gene wins genome race
Article Abstract:
The size and function of the human brain differentiates human from the other mammals and it is believed that the alterations in cellular structures of the brain must have left an impression on the human genome. The pattern of expression of the part of an RNA gene, human accelerated region 1 (HAR1), is balanced to impact the migration of neutrons in developing cortex.
