An adapted method for sampling earthworms at night in wildlife studies
Article Abstract:
New sampling procedure that involved earthworm biomass available at night, visual harvesting at night and hand sorting of earthworms collected from soil cores collected at night was investigated using nocturnal sampling and diurnal formalin spraying. Results showed higher abundance and biomass of surface worms in diurnal sampling than in nocturnal sampling, visual harvest was difficult to perform at night without creating soil disturbance.

Individual activity rates in wintering Eurasian woodcocks: Starvation versus predation risk trade-off?
Article Abstract:
The patterns of diurnal and nocturnal activity rates and the existence of different individual foraging strategies were investigated. The findings revealed that the trade-off between feeding and predation risk depends on how efficiently birds find a rich patch of food in the forest and exploit it optimally during the day.
