An automated approach to generating expressed sequence catalogues
Article Abstract:
A new automated system for the large-scale examination of complementary DNA (cDNA) libraries will allow all expressed sequences of an organism to be cataloged. The system also has the long-range goal of allowing sequencing by hybridization, which is expected to be less limited in application than the gel-based sequencing currently in use. The new automated system relies on 384 wells for plate storage and handling, a colony picker, high-throughput polymerase chain reactions and a spotting robot for analysis of clones.

A novel thermostable polymerase for DNA sequencing
Article Abstract:
Thermo Sequenase is an innovative thermostable DNA polymerase that improves upon the T7 Sequenase DNA polymerase while maintaining a comparable base calling accuracy. Cycle sequencing's reliability and sensitivity is incorporated into the base calling accuracy through specific engineering for DNA sequencing. Some improvements involve preventing 5'-3' exonuclease activity through the addition of thermostable inorganic pyrophosphatase.
