Time, money and tradeoffs
Article Abstract:
The Kyoto Protocol of 1997 was designed to control global warming by creating physical limits on industrialized countries' emissions, in terms of an aggregate of six different greenhouse gases that are determined by applying the concept of global warming potential (GWP). Alan S. Manne and Richard G. Richels have created a model that integrates both physical and economic systems, and looks at how gas tradeoffs meet different policy aims than those met by GWP.

Light at the end of the tunnel
Article Abstract:
The status of the 2007 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on the climate change and global warming has opened a way for meaningful action to curtail greenhouse gases, but it is found to have some inherent risks. The different strategies used to reduce global warming and the revised negotiations for the second stage of the Kyoto Protocol are discussed.

An alternative approach to establishing trade-offs among greenhouse gases
Article Abstract:
The Kyoto Protocol allows nations to trade off emissions of gases for other gases, with the trade-off being determined by the gases' global warming potentials. In reaction to criticism of this approach, a model is presented regarding an alternative way to determine emission equalivalence between radiatively active gases, that involves both physical and economic factors.
