Shrill notes from the stars
Article Abstract:
The Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer satellite allows the study of variations in X-rays which gives an indication of the conditions near neutron stars. X-rays are formed by the falling of the gas lost by a normal star onto a neutron star when a weakly magnetized neutron star and a normal star orbit around one another. The gas falls slowly into the neutron star in the form of spirals. The radiative frothing of the falling gas collects to form photon-bubble oscillations under some conditions.

The crucial measurement
Article Abstract:
The Carbon Club of California has started a new monitoring system that keeps a record of the greenhouse-gas emissions by the developed nations of the world. The organization has developed a satellite called Orbiting Carbon observatory (OCO) for the purpose.
