Apparent competition structures ecological assemblages
Article Abstract:
Competitive interactions can act directly or indirectly as a major force in structuring ecological communities. The apparent competition in a laboratory insect system has been studied and it was found that the single host-single parasitoid interactions were persistent, although the the three-species system was unstable. One of the host species was eliminated from the interaction due to apparent competition.

Ecological and evolutionary processes at expanding range margins
Article Abstract:
Research examining changes in animal distribution as a result of climate changes is presented. Particular attention is given to the geographical expansion of four species of butterflies in Great Britain and to the ecological and evolutionary processes involved in the process.

A changed climate in Africa?
Article Abstract:
Malaria causes some 3,000 deaths each day in Africa, and it also imposes huge losses in economic productivity. Studies indicate that the global climate change will increase future malaria transmission in Africa.
