Philip L. Wright
Article Abstract:
Philip Lincoln Wright would be remembered for his remarkable contributions in mammalogy and ornithology. Born in Nashua, NH, Wright earned a doctorate degree at the University of Wisconsin in 1937 and eventually pursued a teaching career at the University of Montana, where he displayed unparallelled intellect in comparative anatomy, zoology and parasitology. By conducting extensive studies on long- and short-tailed weasels, Wright provided the first evidence for the prolonged gestation in such species. At the age of 83, Wright died in Missoula, MT on July 16, 1997.
