Barking foxes, Alopex lagopus: field experiments in individual recognition in a territorial mammal
Article Abstract:
Field studies were conducted, on a wild population of Arctic foxes namely Alopex lagopus, to examine whether acoustic long-distance signals were used for individual recognition. The result revealed that individual could distinguish between barks of members of their own social group and those of other foxes.

Cross-fostering as a means to study kin recognition

The central issues involved in using cross-fostering to analyze kin recognition are discussed. The cross-fostering techniques are used in behavioral research to investigate many developmental questions.
