Bill colour and immunocompetence in the European blackbird
Article Abstract:
The link between sexual signals and immunocompetence in birds is examined in order to test whether the level of expression of secondary sexual characters indicates male ability to resist parasitic infestations. The findings indicate that the relation between immunocompetence and a secondary sexual trait may differ depending on the component of the immune system.
