Team from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) is planning to use the IBM supercomputer Blue Gene/L, which is one of the most powerful computers ever made available to the neuroscience. The computer will be used to create a biologically realistic simulation of the neural circuits responsible for higher mental processes in humans and other mammals.

The Planetary Society of California had organized a high-level meeting to discuss the U.S. President George W. Bush's decision of another expedition of the Moon by the country's scientists. The participants presented various alternatives to the lunar missions due to the unavailability of adequate funds to facilitate the same.
