CCR5 is characteristic of Th1 lymphocytes
Article Abstract:
Research into the occurrence of the chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR3 in human, antigen-specific CD4+Th1 and Th2 cell clones found that CCR5 was expressed at high levels in Th1 and was almost totally absent from Th2 lymphocytes. CCR3 was not found in Th1 and moderately expressed in Th2 cells. CCR5 and CCR3 were both very positive for CXCR3. This research supports the view that chemokine receptors are expressed in T lymphocytes according to their state of activation or differentiation.

HIV blocked by chemokine antagonist
Article Abstract:
A derivative of the CC chemokine RANTES was analyzed to determine its anti-HIV properties. Dubbed RANTES(9-68), the derivative acts as a receptor-antagonist and does not possess the chemotactic and leukocyte-activating characteristics of RANTES. The anti-HIV property of RANTES(9-68) is lower than that of RANTES but it can avoid the side effects which can result from the use of CC chemokines.
