Article Abstract:
There is a need for greater openness at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland, according to Director General Luciano Maiani. However, he rejects claims that poor management was responsible for budget overruns of SFr480 million on the Large Hadron Collider scheme and SFr370 million on the organization's central budget while this scheme was under construction.
