Cell transformation by the superoxide-generating oxidase Mox1
Article Abstract:
Mox1, a homologue of gp91phox, has been shown to produce reactive oxygen species in some non-phagocytic cells. This research involved identifying a human expressed sequence tag sequence which showed homology to human gp91phox. Complete sequencing showed a predicted amino-acid sequence homologous to the carboxy-terminal half of gp91phox. Mox1 may play a role in normal mitogenic regulation in response to growth factors and in disregulated growth in hyperproliferative disorders.

A mechanism for regulation of the adhesion-associated protein tyrosine kinase pp125 (super FAK)
Article Abstract:
The independent expression of the carboxy-terminal domain of the focal adhesion kinase, pp125(super FAK), as a separate protein tyrosine kinase, pp41/43(super FRNK), transiently blocks focal adhesion formation of pp125(super FAK). When the proteins are co-expressed, the inhibition is reversed, indicating that pp125(super FAK) and p41/43(super FRNK) require the same binding proteins and making pp41/43(super FRNK) an endogenous regulator of pp125(super FAK).
