Climate-induced fluctuations in sea level during non-glacial times
Article Abstract:
During non-glacial periods such as the Late Triassic small fluctuations in sea level may result from changes in groundwater and lake storage capacity which may, in turn, be caused by periodic climactic changes. Late Triassic lake sediments and evidence for fluctuations of the sea level are consistent with the hypothesis that lake water storage and eustasy are causally related. Only a small portion of the sea-level fluctuations of the Quaternary may be explained by groundwater and lake storage variation, but in periods without continental ice sheets it may dominate the Milankovitch eustatic signal.

Continental climate response to orbital forcing from biogenic silica records in Lake Baikal
Article Abstract:
Extreme continental-interior climates such as Lake Baikal, Siberia, were found to be regulated more by the nonlinear rhythm of the ocean and ice sheets than by variations in insolation. Thebiogenic silica (bSiO2) records of Baikal for the past 250,000 years reveal a strong nonlinear influence appearing in a 100,000-year periodicity and a weak direct-insolation component appearing in a 41, 23, and 19 kyr cycle. The amount of bSiO2 in sediments is a suitable productivity index to analyze the influence of insolation on climate.
