Private industrial forests and bird conservation in the northeastern United States
Article Abstract:
The population of the neo-tropical migrant landbird species in the Northeastern United States is waning due to a decrease in their breeding and wintering grounds. A decrease in the breeding grounds causes less damage than a decrease in the wintering grounds, which are more extensive. However, a decrease in the the breeding grounds increases the population density, which affects the breeding rate of these birds. The spread of harvested land, forest felling and the lack of properly defined ecological goals of the environmentalists and the forest industry present a problem to maintaining an ecological balance.

Captive breeding and conservation of lion-tailed Macaques
Article Abstract:
The lion-tailed macaques of southern Asia have been declining in the wild but thriving in captivity Population management projects at zoos have been undertaken by conservationists with such success that there is now a surplus of captive population. Reintroductions of captive-bred lion-tail macaques into wild habitats have proven costly and difficult but still hold the promise of many benefits.

The boulder darter: a conservation challenge
Article Abstract:
The boulder darter was placed on the endangered species list in 1988 by the Fish and Wildlife Service because of human-caused factors such as development projects on its primary habitat the Elk River. Conservationists are currently conducting laboratory research to develop techniques to increase boulder darter populations and find new habitats.
