Comparison of bait markers for black rats
Article Abstract:
The current application of rodenticides was found to be only marginally effective in controlling rats. To assess the rats' consumption and determine the cause of failure, non-toxic bait markers must be used. The effectiveness of metallic flakes, Solvent Blue 36 oil-soluble dye, and tetracycline hydrochloride (THC) as bait markers was tested by monitoring black rats' consumption of treated oat groats. Findings show that of the three bait markers tested, THC was the most effective indicator of feeding without affecting consumption, with monitoring limited to the gingival margin alone.

Effects of gypsy moth infestation on black bear reproduction and survival
Article Abstract:
Gypsy moth infestation and defoliation of mast trees do not affect the bear nutrition. Defoliation results in the removal of overstory cover which in turn results in healthy and abundant understory vegetation. The production and survival of cub, subadult and adult are not affected by ecological alternations wrought by gysy moth. This indicates that the soft mast crops are adequate food substitutes for hard mast crops.

Multiscale net-site selection by black-capped vireos
Article Abstract:
The net-site selection by black-capped vireos is analyzed by using a regression model and landscape scale design. The multiscale net-site selection different species of oak forests was observed in these species.
