Comparisons of related rare and common species in the study of plant rarity
Article Abstract:
Related rare and common species are found when rare plant species are studied. Demographic parameters give detailed data needed for management of certain rare plants and extensive data needed for detection and meta-analyses of general patterns in rarity. All studies should have population densities and life table schedules and studies should be standardized relative to attributes measured. Studies comparing traits of rare vascular plants with those of common plants that are closely related have been reviewed and found to be lacking in consistency in traits measured and few in number.

Population density as a predictor of genetic variation for woody plant species
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the criteria for conserving populations of woody plant species, focusing on the genetic aspects of plant population density. Findings indicate population density is an accurate gauge of genetic variation, but the hypothesis that populations with increased density maintain increased genetic diversity is not supported.
