Comparison of isozymes an quantitative traits for evaluating patterns of genetic variation in purple needlegrass (Nassella pulchra)
Article Abstract:
Comparison of isozymes and quantitative traits has been carried out for evaluation of patterns of genetic variation in purple needlegrass (Nassella pulchra) in California where decimation of plants of prairies of California has stimulated interest in conservation and ecological restoration of grasslands using native perennial species. With widespread plantings, potential for contaminating remnant populations with maladapted germplasm is a matter of concern.. Populations were differentiated strongly for isozymes and quantitative traits, but cluster analysis based on each kind of data did not show the same population groupings. An index based on easy-to-get climatic information might help restorationists to make quick decisions about the right spatial scales for translocating native grasses.

Population size, genetic variation, and reproductive success in a rapidly declining, self-incompatible perennial (Arnica montana) in the Netherlands
Article Abstract:
Research shows a link between population size and inbreeding coefficients in the rare perennial plant Arnica montana. Positive correlations were also found between population size and effective alleles, polymorphic loci proportions and expected heterozygosity.

Gap Analysis of Conserved Genetic Resources for Forest Trees
Article Abstract:
Research on conifers in Washington and Oregon confirms that the gap analysis method is effective for genetic resource evaluation of forest tree species across a large geographical region. Data provided include Douglas fir and noble fir.
