Congress smiles on research budgets
Article Abstract:
Top US science agencies will see healthy budget increases after Congress agreed to match or exceed most funding requests made by President Bill Clinton for them. Most of the the major science agencies have had funding agreed, apart from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The energy and water appropriations bill will back small increases for nuclear and high energy physics, although almost none of the money requested for energy supply research has been granted.
