Khotso Mokhele, formerly in charge of developing research in South Africa, has given his views on the role that science and technology are playing in the development of South Africa and the rest of the continent. His biggest achievement includes retaining quality as a cornerstone of the research enterprise and also the National Research Foundation's (NRF) grants to the best research projects, as well as providing incentives for African American researchers.

Borysiewicz to head UK medical council
Article Abstract:
Leszek Borysiewicz has been chosen as the next head after Colin Blakemore to handle the UK Medical Research Council (MRC). Borysiewicz was found to suit the role perfectly, as apart from having a strong biomedical background, he is also well aware of the government issues.

Sivaramakrishna Chandrasekhar (1930-2004)

Sivaramakrishna Chandrasekhar was active in the creation and development of the Liquid Crystal Society. In 1991, he founded a new center for Liquid Crystal Research in Bangalore.
