Counter-rotating microplates at the Galapagos triple junction
Article Abstract:
An 'incipient' spreading center which is identified as forming a portion of the northern boundary of the Galapagos microplate is described as a slowly diverging, westward propagating rift, tapering towards the East Pacific Rise. Evidence is presented that the 'incident rift' has also rifted towards the east and opens anticlockwise about a pivot at its eastern end.

Geophysical evidence for reduced melt production on the Arctic ultraslow Gakkel mid-ocean ridge
Article Abstract:
The authors discuss the models of melt generation under mid-ocean ridges. The seismic evidence indicates the presence of the very thin crust along the Gakkel ridge rift valley with crustal thickness variations, and the existence of the discrete volcanic centers along the ridge.
