Countryside biogeography of tropical butterflies
Article Abstract:
The butterfly diversity in a tropical countryside is evaluated by comparing the butterfly fauna in coffee plantations with that in a forest remnant, the Las Cruces Reserve, Costa Rica. The study suggests that small, isolated forest fragments help in retaining butterfly diversity in the tropical countryside and increase the conservation value of agricultural landscapes. Large tracts of forest are important as they maintain rare and endemic species.

Countryside biogeography of moths in a fragmented landscape: biodiversity in native and agricultural habitats
Article Abstract:
Moths and their countryside biogeography in a fragmented landscape are discussed relative to biodiversity in native and agricultural habitats in Costa Rica. No significant difference was seen in moth species richness or abundance in agricultural habitats, but agricultural areas within 1 km of a forest fragment have significantly higher richness and abundance vs sites 3.5+ km from the fragment.

Conservation of insect diversity: a habitat approach
Article Abstract:
Community-wide research was found to be a reliable means of gathering information regarding distribution and diversity of little-known insect taxa. Findings were obtained from biogeographical studies using a montane insect community residing in aspen, conifer and meadow habitats.
