Courtship reduces longevity of male Drosophila melanogaster
Article Abstract:
High rates of courtship behavior, in combination with high rates of mating and sperm and accessory fluid production, reduces the life span and future fertility of male Drosophila melanogaster. Wild males courting females unable to copulate die earlier than males courting females able to copulate. High mounting attempts increase the metabolic rate and the hormonal status of male Drosophila, thereby increasing the likelihood of an early death.

Female polar bears, Ursus maritimus, on the Barents Sea drift ice: walking the treadmill
Article Abstract:
The contribution of sea ice drift and movements in the monthly net displacement of female polar bears are estimated using combined information from satellite telemetry, satellite images and atmospheric pressure recordings. In the estimation it was found that movements and thus behavioral processes were dominant.
