Cycling around the South pole
Article Abstract:
Interannual variations in the Antarctic region influence the global temperature by changing temperature gradients between the Equator and the poles. These temperature gradients are responsible for the dynamics of oceans and the atmosphere. The influence of variability in the Antarctic on the formation rates of deep and bottom waters will affect global temperatures on longer timescales. The interannual variations appear to be due to the El Nino/Southern Oscillation signals that predominate interannual climate alteration in high latitudes.

Closing of the Indonesian seaway as a precursor to east African aridification around 3-4 million years ago
Article Abstract:
Research proposing an alternative explanation of the aridification of Africa occurred approximately three to four million years ago is presented. It is suggested that the closure of the Indonesian seaway could have caused the aridification process.

Nature, nurture and landscape
Article Abstract:
A physically based theory is needed to study the erosion in mountain regions. Thermochronometric methods to rock now exposed at the surface are applied to quantify erosion rates.
