Definitive fossil evidence for the extant avian radiation in the Cretaceous
Article Abstract:
A rare, partial skeleton from the Maastrichtian of Antarctica is identified as the first Cretaceous fossil definitively placed within the extant bird radiation. Several phylogenetic analyses supported by independent histological data indicate that a new species, Vegavis iaai, is a part of Anseriformes and is most closely related to Anatidae, which includes true ducks.

Discovery of a short-necked sauropod dinosaur from the Late Jurassic period of Patagonia
Article Abstract:
A new dicraeosaurid sauropod, from the latest Jurassic period of Patagonia that has a short neck is described. With a neck that is about 40% shorter than in other known dicraeosaurs, this taxon demonstrates a trend opposite that is seen in most sauropods and indicated that the ecology of dicraeosaurids might have differed considerably from that of other sauropods.

A new carnivorous dinosaur from the late Jurassic solnhofen archipelago
Article Abstract:
A small new theropod dinosaur from the Late Jurassic period of Schamhaupten in southern Germany is described. A cladistic analysis indicates that the new taxon is closer to maniraptorans than a tyrannosauroids, grouping it with taxa often considered to be compsognathids.
