Designer zeolites
Article Abstract:
Solids used for specific applications, which need selective addition of molecules in nanometer-scale voids, need stable molecular networks. The main difficulty in forming these networks, which are molecular analogues of inorganic zeolites, is that the forces operating in molecular lattices are weak and if the voids are empty the networks collapse. However, a method using rigid ligating molecules and metal ions has been successful in forming stable networks in which dynamic exchange of solvent molecules takes place without the network collapsing.

Article Abstract:
The analysis presents the 'dynamic combinational chemistry', which is employed for the identification of the most stable forms of a complex mixture of interconverting compounds. The branch of science can also be easily used for the sorting of related molecules.

Organic films with a twist
Article Abstract:
Mirror- image chiral crystals on a copper substrate are formed by left- and right- handed helical molecules. The substrate and the molecules work in concert to determine the handedness of the crystal domains.
