Drosophila song as a species-specific mating signal and the behavioural importance of Kyriacou & Hall cycles in D. melanogaster song
Article Abstract:
The courtship song of Drosophila melanogaster has been long been studied, although there is a lack of evidence that species differences are behaviorally significant. In a study females were found to mate most quickly when stimulated by song typical of their own species, and this effect was greatest in Drosphila melanogaster, compared to D. simulans. The role of Kyriacou & Hall cycles in D. melanogaster was also examined, the its presence was more important in increasing mating speed.

To copulate or not? The importance of female status and behavioural variation in predicting copulation in the bumblebee
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the quantitative variation which exists in the courtship behaviour and female reproductive status of the bumblebee. The rejection of males by females and male copulation attempts are discussed.
