Article Abstract:
Scientists are the part of medical reconnaissance missions, in the earliest stage of pharmaceutical research, to identify biological targets that could be attacked by a new drug. Biologists play a much larger role than a chemist during this stage as they track down targets using literature searches, database mining and state-of-the-art techniques to reduce the expression of targeted genes.
