Dynamics of heat shock factor association with native gene loci in living cells
Article Abstract:
Multiphoton microscopy imaging of polytene nuclei in living Drosophila salivary glands reveals that heat shock factor (HSF), the transcription activator of hsp70, is localized to the nucleus before heat shock and translocates from nucleoplasm to chromosomal loci after heat shock. Activated HSF is stably bound to DNA in vivo with further transcription not requiring disassembly of HSF, which demonstrates that transcription activators display diverse dynamic behaviors in their associations with targeted native gene loci in living cells.

Transcriptional activation independent of TFIIH kinase and the RNA polymerase II mediator in vivo
Article Abstract:
Genetic research has established that genetic induction of carboxy-terminal domain phosphorylation occurs in the absence of the gene KIN28. These genes do not require the presence of the genes Srb4 and Srb6 either. Evidence suggests that two separate routes in transcriptional activation exist, one requiring KIN28 and one which does not.

Attack of the genomes
Article Abstract:
The comparative analysis of 12 Drosophila genomic sequences that revealed hundreds of protein coding genes in Drosophila melanogaster is reviewed. The findings could benefit and improve understanding of the human genomes.
