Attempts by the Bush administration to hobble the Endangered Species Act has frustrated the U.S. ecologists and environmental groups. Ecologists believe that a lot of things the Bush administration has done have been intended to do harm to the Endangered Species Act.

The US National Academies explains the reasons for low pay, lack of benefits and inadequate recognition experienced by most of the US postdocs. Due to this most of the postdocs are switching to careers in industry, and some are leaving science altogether.
