Editing of glutamate receptor subunit B pre-mRNA in vitro by site-specific deamination of adenosine
Article Abstract:
Enzymatic deamination enables the conversion adenosine to inosine residue and causes in vitro editing of pre-mRNA of the glutamate receptor subunit B (GluR-B), which influences the receptor's electrophysiological properties. Recognition of substrate requires a specific sequence to interact with the base-pair. This implies that the enzyme performing the editing should possess an RNA recognition subunit that facilitates targeting of the enzyme to the site of editing and adenosine deaminase for efficient editing.

Genomic-sequence comparison of two unrelated isolates of the human gastric pathogen Helicobacter pylori
Article Abstract:
Helicobacter pylori is a common bacterial pathogen in humans, colonizing the gastric mucosa, where it can induce chronic gastric inflammation. Its ability to cause different diseases is thought to involve strain-specific genetic diversity. The entire genomic sequences of two unrelated H. pylori isolates have been compared, and the overall genomic organization, predicted proeomes and gene order were found to be fairly similar.
