Effect of embedded lead shot on body condition of common eiders
Article Abstract:
The effect of embedded lead shot on body condition of common eiders of lead pellet carriers and noncarriers was compared to study if the birds with embedded shot pellets would show a poorer body condition because of injury, and the consequences of nonlethal shot. The embedded lead shot is seen to have a significant effect on juvenile body condition with such birds showing less fat but there was no long-term effect on body condition once birds survived the initial effect of wounding.

Use of stable isotope methodology to determine natal origins of mallards at a fine scale within the upper Midwest
Article Abstract:
The results from stable isotope methodology recommend researchers to account for annual variation in deuterium found in surface waters when investigating natal origins of migratory birds that use food derived primarily from such waters.
