Effects of Climate Change on Population Persistence of Desert-Dwelling Mountain Sheep in California
Article Abstract:
Climate change impacts on bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) populations were studied using hierarchical partitioning and logistic regression analysis. Findings show that population persistence is lower for sheep in lower and drier mountain regions; persistence is also negatively impacted by domestic sheep grazing. Implications for extinction risk are discussed.

Understanding the Causes of Disease in European Freshwater Crayfish
Article Abstract:
An overview on developments and practices in the pathology of native European freshwater crayfish, such as Decapoda and Astacida. Discussion focuses on diagnostic techniques for detecting fungi, but pathogens such as ricksetta-like agents and viruses require more research for species conservation.

Holocene climate in the Western Great Lakes national parks and lakeshores: implications for future climate change
Article Abstract:
The lake-effect snowfall is sensitive to continental-scale changes in climate and could be affected by future climate change. Plants and animal species, which are sensitive to changes in the moisture regime, could be endangered within the Great Lakes parks.
