Epidemic cycling and immunity
Article Abstract:
A debate is presented regarding whether syphilis epidemic is caused due to external factors such as human sexual behavior or due to factors intrinsic to the pathogen. However, mathematical models reveal that the periodicity in syphilis incidence results from nonlinear interactions that are fundamental to the host-pathogen transmission process.
