Europe spells out action plan for emissions targets

A market-based and regulatory measures proposal announced by European Commission which could become law in the European Union's 27 member states on approval is reviewed. The package would strengthen the European Union's leading role in confronting climate change securing its future energy supply.

The long road from Kyoto

The Kyoto protocol that was formulated in 1997, aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and other greenhouse gases by 5 percent. The current standings of the protocol that includes only one of the biggest emitters in the world, which is Russia, are described.
