Europe's parliament loses reputation
Article Abstract:
The Strasbourg Parliament's rejection of a draft directive on manipulation of genes is a setback to the Parliament's reputation than to biotechnological research. The Parliament, which is considered as the representative body of small European nations and an effective alternative to the Council of Ministers, discarded the proposal for patenting genes and genetic products. This rejection will retard the progress of future biotechnology researches.
