Familiarity breeds cooperation: Many theoretical models have been developed to study the conditions under which unrelated individuals should cooperate or not cooperate
Article Abstract:
Evolutionary theory predicts that cooperation should be rare in the animal kingdom, with natural selection tending to favour uncooperative behaviour. Roberts and Sherratt have proposed new mathematical models to show that cooperation can spread more readily than was first thought and that it should increase during the history of a partnership where organisms repeatedly interact. The model allows for variable investment by each partner, and several strategies were compared, with 'raise the stake' (RTS) being the most effective.

The youth team
Article Abstract:
Undergraduates are increasingly publishing scientific research papers in a new breed of student journal created for this purpose. Some of the journals are staffed purely by undergraduates, and some are wholly online ventures.
